 CCA-carve-a-long East

This event has been discontinued at Lake Placid,

if you would like to sponsor it in your area contact Jim O'Dea at jeodea@aol.com

This event was moved  in 2013 to Lake Placid, NY  under the sponsorship of the Lake Placid Woodcarving Experience and held at the Northwoods Inn. . It was previously  held in  Rhode Island (under sponsorship of the Mystic Carving Club)  and prior to that in Hamburg, NY (under sponsorship of the Southtowns carving club) and prior to that in Monore, NY (under sponsorship of the Mid-Hudson carving club).

This event is supported by the CCA in that they "coordinate" getting CCA members to teach at it. http://www.cca-carvers.org

What is it? and  Who is teaching? -  3 days of classes with 3 Caricature Carvers of America (CCA) Instructors.

You will spend one day with each of the 3 instructor working on a different project with each instructor. Maximum of 12 students per instructor but more likely will actually be 7-10 per instructor.  Students need to be comfortable using palm sized hand tools including knives, v-tools and gouges. Other than that no particular skills are needed.  Students will have the opportunity to raise their level of caricature carving skills with experts in the field.

The rooms are set up with a  " sitting room"  with a TV , and one bedroom with either 2 double beds, a queen or a King bed and a privacy door to that bedroom. Most rooms that have a King bed also have a pull out sofa in the sitting room for an extra person to sleep on. The bathroom is right next to the suite entrance door, so from the bedroom you pass through the sitting room to get to it.  The sitting room in some suites has a small kichenette in it, most do not. If you are on medication requiring keeping the meds cold, please ask for a "kichenette room". See the Northwoods Inn link above and click on "Accommodations"
